Firefox is the embarrassment of open source, and it’s the only thing standing between Google and an all-encompassing monopoly over the web. Mozilla has divested from Firefox and started funneling what money is left out of their engineering payroll and into their executive pockets.
While he goes on to recommend an experimental new alternative to the web with a poor user experience, I agree with the bulk of the article. I had just switched back to Firefox this year before all this stuff started happening, and have since switched over to Safari, with Edge as a backup when needed.
It’s sad to see Mozilla on the way out, but in its wake I do believe a new organization will rise up and take their place, and I bet it will be composed of ex-Mozillians.
